A place called Paradisos.

An old local name, and a home on the shore of Lygia.

The name that stayed

Paradisos means “paradise” in Greek. It is the old local name of the neighbourhood in Lygia where vàrniko Archontikò stands. As smaller communities became part of larger administrative areas, names on maps changed; this one remains part of the way the family remembers its place.

The sea, close by

The coastal road runs in front of the house, with the water approximately ten metres away, on the other side. That simple relationship with the sea gives the setting its character: the open view, the changing light, the feeling of being at the edge of the island.

A place to return to

Paradisos is part of the house’s own story. We keep the name because it belongs to this place, and because a home can carry its surroundings with it, long after the signs have changed.
